WHAT CAN BE LEARNED FROM THE REMAINS ABOUT RAMSES II WHEN HE WAS ALIVE
As a result of mummification and deterioration of Ramses' II body, little can be learnt of the features he had when he was alive. The discovery of Ramses' II body meant that archaeologists and scientists could piece together details of the Pharaohs’ life. Microscopic examination has revealed that Ramses II had vibrant red hair, which helped distinguished him from other citizens, as it was not a common trait of Ancient Egyptians. Further analysis of Ramses II mummy exposed that he had a hooked nose, thick lips and a strong, extended jaw line. He was said to be approximately 1.7 metres (5 feet 7 inches) in height. |
